Tips for Better Presentations
Weekly Tip #15 Selecting the Right Projector
When selecting a projector, ease of use should be a primary concern. Selecting a projector with the right features and rehearsing with the technology will help in this regard. The projector's brightness measured in lumens is of less concern. Higher lumen rating does help your visuals look better but is most important when the room can not be darken or when the audience is especially large. Ask our staff for recommendations.

Weekly Tip #14 Using Names of Audience Members
An often overlooked technique for building interest and attention, using the names of key indivduals in your audience is highly effective. Properly pronouncing and saying the name(s) in a presentation builds personal report and a sense of trust in your audience. Try it in your next meeting/presentation.

Weekly Tip #13 Using Paper Handouts
This is an excellent way to reinforce your subject matter. Past them out at the appropriate time so the audience does not become distracted. Generally handing the material out at the end right before the questions and answers is a good time. Also inform your audience that you have a handout so they do not spend their time taking notes.

Weekly Tip #12 Using Microsoft Power Point Slides
Less is more, use the minimum slides necessary and do not over load the slides with text and graphics. Generally limit each slide to five or less sentences or bullet points. Use font size of 28 or higher. Pick an easy to read font like san serif or arial.
Graphics should make a clear point and support the written text. Consistent looking slide frames and backgrounds look more professional. Avoid elaborate slide transitions, special effects and sounds. These features are potentially distracting or annoying to audiences.
